Tested and Working : How to Stop any kind of Addiction

HOW TO STOP ADDICTION WITH JUST 5 STEPS

“I got addicted to porn at the age of 13, while in boarding house I overheard some guys in my dormitory talking about some websites that contain pornography,(I actually had heard of it but curiosity made me go further). The first time I checked I was like wow, I started from watching it once per day, to twice and then I didn’t even count again, I even went to the extent of stealing money to buy data to watch, it was then I knew I was in a real bondage which will be hard to get out from”
Addiction is an habit that can’t be stopped in a day, remember it took you days even months to get use to it, For example, you didn't learn how to write in one day, it took some pain, discipline and at times frustration comes in. Addiction can be defined by different sites, books, people or even religion but it's important to note that ONLY AN ADDICT knows what it feels like to be addicted. Some call it Disease others call it chronic disorder; well probably those are what people think it is. "It could be defined as an irresistible urge that follows you everywhere and which must be satisfied if not you will be restless, weak or even sick.".
According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), 21.5 MILLION Americans adults from age 12 and above battled Drug Misuse Disorder in 2014 . For more on the statistics, click here
The Two major causes of Addiction are: Peer Pressure and Curiosity, I’ll summarize the two:
  • Peer pressure: Teens stay closer to their peers (friends) than home, it's with their friends they learn most of what they know, what i simply mean is that friends decide who you are or what you going to be to a large extent. For example, you go to a club with friends and then they offer you cocaine telling you to take it to prove you are one of them, you will want to take it because of two reasons, firstly to feel among, Secondly, CURIOSITY.
  • Curiosity: Most of us want to be wide in knowledge which is actually good but try as much as possible to be guided when widen knowledge. As Thomas Hobbes rightly said "Curiosity is the lust of the mind". Curiosity makes you to try out new things.
Through researches, its stated that most, if not all addicts want to be free, but they don’t know how or probably sites they've reached, books they've read don’t bring out realistic methods. Well you came to the right place, this methods am giving out worked for me and several other people, you could also try it.
THE FIVE STEPS TO STOP ADDICTION
This following works but first you have to be DETERMINED and DISCIPLINED for it to have full effect:
1.    TELL SOMEONE ABOUT IT (Be Accountable): This sounds weird right…..you may think the person won’t trust you again, well, you can use this guideline to know the right person to tell. Note if you want to tell your parents, it’s cool but most of us are closer to our friends and siblings than our parents:
·        How close is the person to you: It could be your best friend, roommate or even your Girlfriend, but you guys must be close. I chose my Sister; because we are more than best friends and we talk a lot.
·       Do you trust the person? This important you can’t just leave your life secret with someone you've never trusted
·        Do you guys share secrets before?
·        Will the person castigate, implicate or black mail you?
And any other question you think is necessary, once you tell the person you become accountable to the person meaning the person will be your watchdog, making sure you are getting yourself out of the addiction.
Also the person can just give your computer and gadgets surprise checking…..(my sister knows my passwords) just in case she wants to check my phones or laptops and if you are caught by the person he/she could punish you in his/her way, probably snubbing you or doing something that will pain you.

2.    AVOID FRIENDS, SITES OR OBJECTS THAT COULD *SEDUCE* YOU: You will surely miss friends you move out with but ask yourself, what as this addiction and friends added to my life? If they’ve not added anything reasonable, I think you should avoid them. Some sites brings pop-on, which are very erotic try as much as possible to leave sites like that at least for some months, Also parties that aren’t cool, erotic movies, places where people smoke which you think isn't good, indecent girls etc, should be avoided
3.  TRY NOT TO BE IDLE: Boredom or idleness breeds lots of ideas, most of it which are bad, try to make yourself active, alive and working….. when I see am bored I go to my bro and start discussing movies or any important thing with him because I know anything can happen, if you are alone in the house try to walk outside your house and interact with people and you will be fine.
4.  DON'T GET FRUSTRATED: I read a story of a girl who poisoned herself because she was  into drugs.......don't expect your system to adopt to change immediately, you may start with two days discipline, and you may fail don’t get disappointed, I disciplined myself for 2 weeks and I went back, I almost gave up, but then from 1 month to 2 to 3 and then I could do without it and please don’t get frustrated and kill yourself, you got things to still achieve in life.
5.  PRAY: Some people don’t believe in it but I do, because it works and it helps

Note: Please this steps take discipline as stated above, follow it thoroughly and I promise, you will be fine. For more Read This

Thanks, Have a Lifted day
